Carbon Monoxide (CO) & Gas Safety

We’re proud to work in partnership with SGN (Scottish Gas Networks) to help ensure individuals living with dementia receive the vital support they need.

Together, we are committed to putting your safety and well-being first.

Do You Have a Gas Cooker?

A locking cooker valve is a free and simple safety device that can help people living with dementia remain safe and independent at home.

What is a Locking Cooker Valve and How Does It Work?

A locking cooker valve is a safety adaptation fitted to the main gas supply that leads to your cooker.

This device offers reassurance to families and carers of those living with dementia, by eliminating the risk of the gas cooker being accidentally turned on or left on.

Once installed:

  • You will be given a key that locks and unlocks the valve controlling gas flow to the cooker.

  • The valve is easy to use and removes risk, making home life safer.

  • SGN can fit the locking cooker valve for free, regardless of your gas supplier.

Having a locking cooker valve helps eliminate risks and saves lives.
