On Sunday 1st June 2025, ADSS brought together over 100 people for a special day trip to Ramsgate, and it turned out to be a perfect reminder of the power of connection, peer support, and shared joy. With the sun shining and spirits high, the day was a true celebration of community. It is part of of our usual day trips that we put on throughout the year, which are organised by our Wellbeing Team (Post Diagnostic Services).
From the outset, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and warmth. For ADSS, trips like this are more than just a day out, they’re part of a wider mission to create meaningful experiences for people living with dementia and their carers. By offering a relaxed and welcoming environment, the charity helps people feel seen, supported, and valued.
The day began with a two-course roast dinner and refreshments at the friendly San Clu Hotel. After the meal, attendees could choose to join a quiz and bingo session, providing entertainment and light-hearted fun, especially appreciated by those who preferred to stay indoors or had mobility needs.
For those who wanted to explore more of the seaside town, a helpful coach driver provided transport down to the harbour area, where attendees could enjoy Ramsgate’s vibrant cafes, bars, and small market at their own pace.
As the day drew to a close, the group came together once more at the Royal Victoria Pavilion, where everyone shared a chat and a cup of tea, a calm and comforting way to wrap up a joyful day before boarding the coaches home.
Trips like this play a vital role in supporting not only individuals living with dementia but also their carers, offering moments of escape, togetherness, and support in a safe, fun setting.
ADSS extends heartfelt thanks to all who attended, and to the volunteers and staff who helped make the day such a success. Here’s to more days filled with sunshine, friendship, and the little things that truly make a difference.
